Officials

At competitions there are always officials to ensure the correct running of the event.

There will usually be a referee who is in charge of the competition, a starter who will start the races,

turn judges who check that the correct turns are executed, stroke judges who check that the

correct stroke is being swum and timekeepers who time the swimmers in their events.

The club is always looking for people to train as timekeepers, in the first instance, because all clubs

have to provide officials at competitions. There will be opportunities throughout the year to train as timekeepers.
